RAJA AMPAT & BALI | FEB 2022 | SAMAMBAIA & ALAM BATU

Back-to-back Raja Ampat with a side of Bali please!  We had some great trips back to the heart of biodiversity, Raja Ampat in West Papua. Two Sorong to Sorong trips aboard the Samambaia were rounded out with a week of macro at alam Batu Resort in Bali.  For these trips Kerri was shooting the 5DMKIV while Hergen had the Sony A7R V in the new Nauticam NA-A7RV with the WACP-C optic.  For the first trip it was stills and the second video;  you’ll find both below.

Sony A7R V Video

This video was filmed with the Sony A7R V in the NA-A7RV housing with the Nauticam WACP-C optic.  Macro was filmed in Bali using the Sony 90mm Macro lens.  Wide-angle lighting was a pair of Keldann 8X video lights with their Ambient Filter System while macro lighting was a pair of Backscatter 4300MW video lights with their pastel color filter system.  Monitoring was with the NA-NinjaV for the Atomos Ninja V monitor.

MANTAS & TURTLES

We had some amazing manta encounters both at Manta Ridge and also snorkeling near Manta Sandy and a few down at Karang Bayangan in the south.  Sawandarek and Yangbuba had lots of great turtle action.

REEFSCAPES

Despite the weather and water conditions being less than ideal, the reefs capes were up to par with dripping soft corals and beautiful hard coral gardens.

BALI MACRO

Bali and alam Batu in particular always delivers amazing macro dives.  Rhinopias, seahorse, frogfish, and everything else you’d expect.

REEF INHABITANTS

Fish and things from the reefs of Raja Ampat.
